This time the multi-billion dollar operation slapped a six game suspension on Vanderbilt senior Festus Ezeli because he accepted a hotel room and a meal from an alumnus while on a weekend trip to visit some friends.
Ezeli sums it up perfectly.
I am very sorry and would never want to jeopardize my college career over such a petty thing as a meal or a hotel room. I would have been able to afford those things myself. I have always tried to do the right thing; I should have known better and am embarrassed that my mistake could affect my team.
The "gift" was uncovered by Vanderbilt and reported to the NCAA and the SEC this summer. I've got to stop being concerned with stuff like this because it is driving me crazy.
Ezeli is Nigerian. Perhaps the plantation owner that is NCAA thinks he should be treated as a slave.
