The Toledo Blade has a report on senior St Francis DeSales HS distance runner Kyle Lach in this morning's edition. Kyle is a member of SFS track and cross country teams, along with son of Chili Dog. There are several seniors graduating this year that have had a pretty good ride in high school running. The XC team has qualified for the state championship race in each of the four years they've been here. Several members of the class have qualified in various events for the state track meet, both indoor and outdoor.

Many in the community believe sports are down at SFS due to below average performances in football and basketball. While teams in the two major sports have been far less than successful, teams and athletes in the other sports have flourished. It's nice to see these guys, who work their butts off, get some credit.

Last week, St Francis DeSales HS held the annual Knight Relays at which the seniors and their parents are introduced to the spectators. Following the introduction ceremonies, Kyle's father was approached by some parents from St John Jesuit HS who congratulated him and told him what a pleasure it was to watch Kyle run over these past four years.

That's nice.

I think it fitting, some times, that we take off the uniform and embrace our similarities. Here's Mark Knopfler to lead us along.
