I am reminded of one of my favorite euphemisms.
Look at all the customers not there.
At one point in time I seem to recall that the owners of the Johnny’s Lunch franchise located on Sylvania Ave near a Westfield Mall was to be one of many, many franchises opened in NW Ohio.
Being an obvious fan of the chili dog, I sampled the joint early on. I reviewed my experience in a post in this space that has since gone into the internet ether, but suffice to say I felt it somewhere between feces and dog food, albeit purely on an imagination basis for I have no real life data on the taste of either of those. Unfortunately, I do have real life data on the taste of a Johnny’s Lunch chili dog and am as embarrassed by that as much as if it were one of those other two disgusting items.
I exaggerate for emphasis.
The good news in all of this is that loyal reader John B has informed me the franchise is shuttered. He claims it a victim of the economy. I claim it a victim of good taste. Way to go, Toledo. What took you so long?

Ah, I remember your review of that establishment’s food very well. Luckily for me, my confidence in your review prevented me from a sample of that food poisoning experience.
Johnny, we hardly knew thee.
What’s funny to me is that all of the stores in Michigan are closed and they still show up on their website as open. They all failed here and it was not because of the economy. It was because of a failed business plan. Good luck to the new stores in PA, they will need it.
It started out as a local restaurant in Jamestown, NY. It has a rather fanatical following (all the kids coming home from college had to stop there), but no one in Jamestown really believed that it would survive elsewhere in the world.
