Irony of The Trilogy

It takes more than three to make a trilogy, but anything more than three is not a trilogy.

The point is, of this list, many are not actually trilogies.

LOTR and BTTF are the only true trilogies on the list. The rest are just series of movies with no real connecting story. A true trilogy is a flowing story over three volumes, just having the same characters isn’t enough. The plot lines has to be the same.

For instance, it isn’t enough for Indiana Jones to simply say, “Nazis. I hate these guys.” Or “Snakes. Why’d it have to be snakes?” The plots have to be carried through. None of the rest of these are like that.

Here is a list of things I hate about that list:

-Spiderman is perhaps the worst set of three movies I ever seen.
-They’ve made a fourth Indiana Jones and they’re making a fourth Bourne movie. While I love both of these, they are no longer trilogies. As a set of three, though, Indiana Jones should be #3 or so on this list.
-I hate Star Wars. It’s not two trilogies; it’s six movies. Disqualified.
-Toy Story is actually two movies; they just changed the characters’ names for the third movie. Not to mention, it represents a bold-face Steve Jobs lie (I guess they just call that a statement?). Pixar’s foundation was built on “never producing a sequel.” Then someone waves some money in their face and they cave. Then Disney buys them and they throw all their non-sequel ideas out the window.

So, what is there one or two actual planned trilogies on this list?

I think they left out Rocky and Halloween.
