He’s Gay; Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That.

I could not care less about Anderson Cooper really.  I don’t follow him, and I don’t consider him to a major source of news for me.  I know he has a talk show, although I’ve never watched it.  I’ve seen enough of him to suggest to myself that he was likely gay.  He’s an obviously good-looking fellow and has been very successful in his field.

This morning, Anderson Cooper came out to Andrew Sullivan, a gay commentator to whom I do pay close attention.  I certainly don’t find this earth-shaking and don’t expect that very many people will be  surprised by this news, but the interesting thing, and Sullivan points it out, as how blase’ the notion of coming out has become for those in the public eye.

i thought he came out a long time ago?!? whatever

he had a promising journalistic career that has taken the subsequent path of jerry springer’s political career… i have seen two minutes of his talk show about three times and every episode was as trashy and banal as anything springer dealt. he now matters not at all and is unworthy of considering further

Given the recent news cycles, I would suggest that Anderson Cooper telling the world he’s gay has about the equivalent WOW! factor of Katie Holmes telling the world she’s divorcing scientology Tom Cruise.
