Ever since I read the book, Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer, I have paid close attention to the six week period from early May to mid June which is the only time that Mother Earth steps back graciously enough to allow rich nut jobs to summit the world’s tallest peak. Krakauer’s book does a great job of portraying the risky venture it is to not only reach the summit, but to descend to normal altitude meant for human habitation.
This year is off to a rough start. So far four are dead and one is missing (which usually means dead, only worse).
