I need a new hobby.  The NCAA and college football suck more and more and more every freaking day.

I may seriously have to return to the NFL.  Or crochet.

After thinking about this for ten minutes, I decided this is just more evidence that the fucking NCAA does not give a shit about their beloved “student-athletes.”   Surely the punishment is directed upon the institution.  The pain is borne in part by fans certainly, because the punished team generally under-performs, and in part by the institution which  may suffer at the box office, although in the case of Ohio State, there is no way that happens.  Most Ohio State fans would watch players dressed in scarlet and grey piss on each other so long as it happened inside Ohio Stadium between September and November.

Those who bear the brunt of the pain of this punishment will be the “student-athletes” themselves.  No bowl game.  Under-performances.  Ridicule and scorn from ESPN.  The list goes on.  Think of guys like Jack Mewhort.  Blood, sweat and tears.  Worked their asses off.  Get a coach they can fall in behind.  Senior season.  NO FUCKING BOWL GAME.

In the case of Ohio State, the NCAA had the malfeasers in hand.  They were all under their control, and look what they did to them.

• Tressel – FIRED.
• Preyor – Suspended then quit – never played another game.
• Adams – Suspended FIVE GAMES.
• Posey – Suspended FIVE GAMES and then FIVE MORE GAMES
• Herron – Suspended FIVE GAMES
• Thomas - Suspended FIVE GAMES
• Whiting – Suspended ONE GAME

Throw in the forfeited season – the fifteen scholarships – etc. and Ohio State, together with the NCAA, did a pretty good job of meting out the penalties.

But no.

Along comes the fucking NCAA and decides to take a bowl game away from a team that will have none of the above mentioned players or coaches on it.  ALL THIS AFTER THEY LET THESE FUCKERS PLAY IN THE GODDAMN SUGAR BOWL!!!  Do you understand how fucking stupid that is?  Well, stupid if you all you are trying to do is punish wrongdoers.  Pretty smart if you all you are trying to do is maximize your cash intake.

The NCAA had all they needed to make this decision in AUGUST!  That is an entire football season ago.  The NCAA could have taken a bowl away this year.  But no, that would make too much sense.  They had to wait for a new coach, wait for all of these guys to leave the program and then BAM! fuck with the new guys.

The message from the NCAA is loud and clear.  If you fucking cheat, we will come down hard on those who follow you.  You, on the other hand, are free to do just fine in your other pursuits.
